TOEFL no longer accepted in Australia for the time being

The Australian Department of Home Affairs has announced that the TOEFL iBT will temporarily not be accepted for visa applications from 26 July 2023 until further notice. This suspension is due to alterations being made to the test by ETS.

As the Australian government scrutinizes the modifications, the TOEFL iBT version introduced on July 25 is presently unavailable, according to the Department of Home Affairs.

During this period, the department will accept results from other English proficiency tests. These include the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), including One Skill Retake (OSR), Pearson Test of English (PTE), Cambridge English (CAE) (also referred to as C1 Advanced), and the Occupational English Test (OET), which is specifically designed for health professionals.

However, the Department of Home Affairs has assured that the TOEFL test results of those who took it for Australian visa purposes prior to July 25 will continue to be valid.
