What is CPT and how does it benefit students?

CPT stands for Curricular Practical Training. CPT status allows international students with an F-1 visa to gain work experience through off-campus, paid/unpaid internships, or employment in a related field while they study
Basically, you can enroll in a full time work opportunities with your studies. STEM courses will provide you upto 5 years of work permit

How does CPT work at Ottawa University?

CPT is an integral part of the programs and participation is required. CPT is authorized from day-1 for the duration of the program with no gaps or breaks.

Types of Programs and Fees

  1. EMBA
    • EMBA Programs are 2-year, 6-semester, full-time programs. Each
      semester you will take two 3-credit courses (8 weeks each) and two .5-
      credit practicum courses. Total 42 credits; 7 credits per semester.

  2. DBA Programs
    • DBA Program is a 3-year, 9-semester, full-time program. Each
      semester you will take two 3-credit courses (8 weeks each). Total 54
      credits: 6 credits per semester.
      Semester Tuition: $5525 DBA

      Fees
      EMBA Cybersecurity for Managers and CAGS-Cybersecurity for
      Managers include an additional $750 cyber fee for each range course (5total).
      Ottawa University offers 6 semester starts each year(3 starts for DBA).

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree Certificates and Transcripts – Include all university transcripts.
  • Two Current Letters of Recommendation – Letters accepted from academic and professional sources.
  • Proof of English Proficiency – IELTS (6.5) or TOEFL (79) or DuoLingo (105)
  • Passport
    Bank Statement – Show a minimum of $28,990 in financial support.
    Pay stubs cannot be used as proof of financial support. You can use bank statements, loans, lines
    of credit, or sponsor bank statements with a signed/dated sponsorship letter to show the
    required funds. An additional $6000 in financial support must be shown for each dependent.
    Professional Experience Requirement
  • For EMBA program – student must have a Master’s degree plus 3-5 years of professional
    experience or a Bachelors degree plus 5-7 years of professional work experience.

APPLICATION DEADLINE – 8 weeks before the program start date.

FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS

  • There are no merit-based scholarships at the graduate level.
  • However, every graduate program offered to international students is authorized for Day-1 CPT.
  • This practicum not only provides the student with real-world work experience in a related field but also income to cover tuition and living expenses. Many of our students graduate debt free!

**Additional Requirements for DBA**

**Statement of Commitment – 1-2 page essay discussing your plans to balance the required time commitment of the program with your work schedule, other demands, and unforeseen
obstacles/challenges which will need to be overcome to successfully complete the program in
the 3-year time frame.

**Professional Resume or Curriculum Vitae Statement of Research Interest – 1-page essay discussing 1) why you are interested in pursuing the Doctorate of Business Administration degree, and 2) key organizational problems you are facing that could be addressed through applied research. Include information pertaining to your career goals following successful completion of the program, the area of business that interests you, and specific research topics that interest you.
